Sprite To Life Available Again Now
We’ve decided to make our tool Sprite To Life! available again on itch. The tool, which we developed briefly in 2020, allows you to extrude fake 3D graphics from 2D sprites, and quickly test stacked sprites.
We haven’t updated it, but I stumbled on it again when I was developing Jackdaw and decided that some people may find it helpful still!
Originally we made the page unavailable on itch just because we didn’t want to take the project any further. But the tool itself is still somewhat useful, so we decided to put it live again in case you need it.

Current Features:
- Load in a 2D sprite in profile and extrude it into fake 3D
- Save this new fake 3D sprite as a pre-rendered “3D” sprite in multiple directions
- Save this new fake 3D sprite as a series of layers for “sprite-stacking”
- Load in a 2D sprite strip to test how it looks when stacked
- Save this stacked image as a pre-rendered “3D” sprite in multiple directions
The tool was still in early development during this version, but we’ve found it handy for quickly testing our sprite-stacked “fake 3D” models, and we know some of you out there may be able to use it in your projects too.
Anyway, don’t expect too much from it but we hope you enjoy using it.
